I’m not sure where I found this but most likely it was also on the inspiration page of Abduzeedo (like everything else.) But I really like how it demonstrates some really nice photoshop craftsmanship and skill, not to mention the interesting concept. It seems to be demonstrating the four elements of classical thought; fire, water, earth, and air. Although achieving something like this wouldn’t necessarily be hard in theory, making it look so perfectly realistic would be a whole new battle. Especially when dealing with objects like fire and water, which bend light in every which way while at the same time being transparent. One could guess that hours of selecting and refining selections and then selecting some more went into this, as well as some carefully painted on detail. However, it really looks great, and it shows the real power of photoshop as an image editing tool.
