This is a cool poster I found browsing the web that is a really cool demonstration of the power of photoshop in creating really stylized text effects. Once you had the line art already created, coloring the rest wouldn’t be that difficult to do. I’ve seen a few tutorials online that demonstrate how to create a similar effect with the text having raised metallic edges. You could lay over the text with a gradient, and the background with radial gradients. To add further contrast, you could add shines using a soft brush and then a star shaped brush on top. Finally, you could create the background by painting on a black layer with a low opacity brush, building up color until you get the hazy light effect. To get the grungy effect, you could create a layer mask over the other layers, and then use a grungy texture on the layer mask. And that’s it!
