Horny Toad (Literally!)

I love this, and I don’t know if it’s because it’s so clever (it actually creates a pun) or if it’s because I go to a school where *half* of this animal is the mascot. For anyone who doesn’t know, this picture demonstrates the play on words of “horned frog” or “horny toad” which is what this lizard is lovingly referred to as:

as you can see, clearly not a frog or toad, but a lizard. This picture is so great though, because it really does an awesome job of merging the two animals seamlessly and creating this creature that appears to actually be real. The trick to this is making the skin the exact same tone, and adeptly using masks to merge the edges of the two images. If you look really closely, you can see where the texture of the lizard’s skin ends, and the texture of the frogs skin begins. The thing I really like about this, however, is that even people like me who grew up playing with and being around horny toads, are actually fooled at first by this image. It’s really a great demonstration of photo munipulation.
